Fall swim lessons start soon at EmBe. As we enter the cooler months, now is the time to enroll your family in one of the organization’s many aquatic programs available this season.

EmBe uses the American Red Cross for swimming and water safety training, with an emphasis on drowning prevention and the best in swim instruction. Classes include parent to child — as young as age 6 months are welcome! — preschool, youth and adult, with group classes or private sessions available.

All skill levels are welcome and would benefit from the in-depth water safety education provided as well as the encouragement of positive recreational habits. The more comfortable you or your child is in any body of water, the safer and more confident they will be!

Wellness director, Ryan Fischer, says EmBe had over 1,200 people sign up for swim lessons last year.

“Some families do one session a year, some families do a couple sessions a year,” he says. “It all depends on how much water time they want or how fast their child is learning and advancing.”

Ryan says that at group lessons, they begin by learning and practicing specific swimming skills akin to their level, then they finish the season with exit skills needed to pass before graduating onto the next level.

“If you choose private lessons, the curriculum is more individualized,” he says, explaining that some families come to EmBe aquatics with a goal in mind. If that’s the case, “the instructor will work with you on whatever it is you want to achieve through your lesson.”

Either way, families consistently walk away from EmBe’s swim lessons with more confidence, an appreciation for water recreation and gratitude for the program.

One parent recently commented on how impressed she was with the instructors and how thorough they were. “My daughter usually struggles with new people, but she loved it!”

Another parent says, “I am so impressed with EmBe’s aquatic program. We had done three rounds of swim lessons elsewhere, where I felt like all they were doing was standing and bobbing in and out of the water. Here, I feel my kids did more during their first lesson at EmBe than they did during their entire season before! Your instructors are doing a great job.”

Sign-ups are still available but close soon. Once lessons begin, Saturday sessions will be September 15 through November 3, and Tuesday / Thursday sessions will be October 2 through October 25. Registration is at embe.org.
