First comes Black Friday, then Small Business Saturday followed by Cyber Monday. But at EmBe our favorite day is Giving Tuesday. Started as a day for consumers take a break from holiday shopping and do some holiday giving instead. EmBe has been participating in Giving Tuesday events for several years.
This year, EmBe is participating in South Dakota Day of Giving on Giving Tuesday. For the first time ever, South Dakota has a concentrated effort to raise the philanthropic efforts of nonprofits on Giving Tuesday. Through a series of challenges and tasks, South Dakota Gives will hand out $125,000 in prize money to participating nonprofits. Both EmBe and its signature program Dress for Success Sioux Falls are participating!
Ways to Help!
- We Flip for Field Trips! Join us for pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee from 6:30am – 9am on November 27 at the EmBe South Gym! A $5 suggested donation gets you a hot breakfast and supports EmBe!
- Donut Day! When you’re dropping your kids off on the morning at our Downtown Sioux Falls location on Tuesday, November 27, stop in the lobby and grab a donut! A $2 suggested donation gets you a donut and supports EmBe!
- #TimeMachineTuesday: South Dakota Gives is handing out $125,000 in prize money through a variety of challenges. One challenge is getting in costume! We encourage our EmBe kids to come to EmBe on November 27 dressed in their best gear from another decade!

- Hold a Facebook Fundraiser! Easy to get started by following this link. Make sure to invite your friends to donate!
- Talk about who you are giving to! Social influence is huge! Something as simple as “I’m supporting EmBe, Dress for Success Sioux Falls and (any other great nonprofits you’re choosing to support) this #GivingTuesday. Join me in giving back this holiday season!” can make a big impact!
- Win a chance to push our Aquatics Director, Ryan Fischer, in the pool while he’s fully dressed! Just donate $25 to our aquatics program on November 27 and if we raise $1000, you’re in for a chance to do the honors!
- Chromebook Challenge! We’re looking to raise money to cover the cost of 10 Chromebooks for our FIRST LEGO League camps. These computers will ensure that our STEM education has the technology it needs to support it. Maybe your business would buy one and challenge your partners or competitors to buy one too? Chromebooks are about $200.
- Client Challenge! We’re also hoping to raise enough money to sponsor 10 clients at our Dress for Success Sioux Falls program. Will you and your co-workers pool your dollars and sponsor a client? Will your business match it? The more creative the better!
