Megan Willroth: School Age Care Site Coordinator at Freedom

Megan Willroth is an After School Care Site Coordinator at Freedom Elementary in Harrisburg. Each day she makes sure that programs are running smoothly and EmBe’s values are reflected through the things we do and teach on our offsite locations.

“I try to make the before and after school program a safe space for the kids.” Megan starts, “I am proud of the kids every day when they enjoy the things I have planned for them and choose to be vulnerable with me after a hard day at school.”

We are so fortunate for our childcare and school age care staff members who continue to push through each day to bring an empowering and inspiring experience to children in our community.

“EmBe has helped me with my leadership and confidence. My role requires a lot of problem solving and professionalism. These skills are strengthened with experience and the autonomy that EmBe gives me to help develop those skills,” said Megan.

  1. What is your proudest moment at EmBe?
A lot of my proud moments come from the kids I am with every day. I am proud when they enjoy the things I have planned for them. I am proud when they choose to be vulnerable with me after a hard day at school. I try to make the before and after school program a safe space for them and when they see it is a safe space, I am proud. It is very rewarding sometimes to work with kids.
  2. What are three words you’d used to describe EmBe?
I would say EmBe is collaborative, supportive, and motivated.
  3. Tell us something that might surprise us about you
The classic and my go-to is that I am an only child because that is pretty uncommon with people my age.
  4. Where is your favorite place to be?
My favorite place to be is probably wherever I’m surrounded by loved ones. I cherish the memories I make with my good friends so whenever and wherever I’m with them is my favorite.
  5. Do you have a favorite quote?
“Love is a verb, Love – the feeling – is a fruit of love, the verb.” – Stephen Covey
  6. How do you define success?
I define success as a type of self-satisfaction of where you’re at. I think success may not look the same at different times in your life. It even can look different each day for me. Success requires maximum effort and making sure I did the very best I could do.
  7. What is your least favorite food?
My least favorite food would have to be either mushrooms or shrimp.
