Empowerment starts here

EmBe’s School Age Care programs help children grow. Our programs offer a safe, fun way for kids to spend time before and after school and in the summer. Our relaxed environment facilitates learning and recreation, helping children develop friendships and learning new skills with programs like Before and After School, No School Days and Summer Care. Providing kids with unique learning opportunities and hands-on involvement.

Summer enrollment now open! Click here to enroll. Fall enrollment for the 2021 – 2022 school year will open Monday, June 7, 2021

Our goal is to offer a safe and fun environment for your child(ren) knowing that concern for their health and safety guides our operations. To ensure the safety and wellness of children and staff, these modified procedures will remain in place until further notice:

  • Restricted drop off (6- 9 am) and pick up times (3 – 6 pm)
  • Extensive health screenings and temperature monitoring for all children and staff.
  • Modified exclusion policies for children exhibiting symptoms of illness (48 hours symptom-free or doctor’s note).

Parents are reminded to keep their children home if they display signs of illness. We will be following very strict illness exclusion procedures to ensure the safety of our children, families and staff.

We are continuing increased sanitation of common areas and toys to prevent the spread of illness. We are implementing increased handwashing for children and staff and educating children on thorough hand washing techniques.

Please note that this plan is subject to change based on this rapidly developing situation. We remain in communication with local public health officials and recommendations from the government regarding the operation of EmBe programs and services.

Q: What safety measures are being taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among children?

A: There are extensive procedures being implemented to keep children in small, quarantined groups as well as enhanced sanitization practices. Registered families will be supplied with a detailed guide regarding procedures.

Q: Will parents be notified if there is a positive case of COVID-19 of a staff member or child at EmBe?
Maybe or maybe not. We take all direction from the SD Department of Health on who needs to be notified depending on the circumstance and level of exposure or contact.

Q: Are we going to notify parents/guardians who test positive for COVID-19 at EmBe?
No. Names and/or positions or classroom will not be shared due to confidentiality. We take all direction from the SD Department of Health on who needs to be notified depending on the circumstance.

Q: If my child or anyone in the child’s household exhibits the following symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat, trouble breathing, headache, or diarrhea (see may we bring our child(ren) for care at EmBe?
No. We are only as safe as all of our parents and guardians allow us to be. We ask that you notify your primary care physician for direction and keep your child’s site manager updated so we may consult with the SD Department of Health for any action required.

Q: Will EmBe remain open if Governor Kristi Noem issues a shelter in place order for Minnehaha and Lincoln Counties?
A:  Yes. EmBe Childcare and School Age Care programs are considered a part of essential services critical to maintaining the Infrastructure Workforce. Only the South Dakota Department of Health/Department of Social Services can close our building.

Q: Are toys allowed from home?
A: No. To reduce the spread of germs, no toys are allowed from home at any time. All EmBe toys, puzzles, books and games are sanitized between use by children.

It’s all about choosing activities before and after school. School age students will have the opportunity to explore a new after school curriculum starting this fall. EmBe will bring a variety of social, life, motivation, and enrichment skills and self-improvement activities. Including arts, crafts, STEM, special guest speakers and more.

Before School
Students have the opportunity to get last-minute help with homework, socialize with friends, have breakfast and enjoy some leisure time.

After School
We teach children with engaging projects such as art, gym games, sewing, club involvement, community service projects, group and special activities, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math), reading, socializing and help with homework. Although participation in daily activities is not mandatory, we encourage students to explore different areas every day in the choices they make. A healthy snack and juice are served daily.

Before and after school care is housed at the EmBe Avera South at 3510 W. Ralph Rogers Road.

“We sure appreciate all that you and your staff are doing at EmBe to make the summer fun for the children and keeping all as safe as possible. These sure are challenging times, to say the least. Having you open and run summer programs has been a lifesaver for both kids and parents after being at home for a few months!”

“I am a single mother who needs to work at least two jobs to make ends meet. With the recent events of Covid-19, I lost my second job. At the same time I had a couple of unexpected things impact me financially and I was really stuck. I needed care but could not afford it. I filled out a scholarship form and shortly after submitting it, I received a call back asking, ‘how can we help you?’ I am so very thankful and appreciative of the support. EmBe truly cares about the families that they serve.”

“Our kids love EmBe! We have one in the after school program that stays busy every day, especially with outside play. Our toddler talks about his teacher nonstop and when I tell him he is going to see he says “yay!!!” It makes you feel good that they love going to daycare.”
