Empowerment starts here.

EmBe’s School Age Care programs offer a safe, fun way for kids to spend time before and after school and in the summer. Our environment facilitates learning and recreation, helping children develop friendships and new skills with unique learning opportunities and hands-on involvement.

2024-2025 School Age Care Enrollment is Open!

We will no longer be providing School Age Care services at our EmBe South location and there will be no transportation to and from schools. Our recent partnership with the Sioux Falls School District and the development of the Community Learning Center model will allow us to have programming directly within select Sioux Falls Elementary Schools. For details and enrollment information, please visit the Sioux Falls School District website: https://www.sf.k12.sd.us/page/after-school. The schools that we will be servicing are Cleveland Elementary, Discovery Elementary, John Harris Elementary, Lowell Elementary, Sonia Sotomayor Elementary.

School-age students have the opportunity to explore a variety of social, life, motivation, enrichment skills, and self-improvement activities.

School-age care sample schedule:

  • School Dismissal-4p: check-in/snack time
  • 4p-5:30p: guided activities stations (creative play, STEM learning, arts & crafts, homework, outside/gym time, etc.)
  • 5:30p-6p: free play/pick-up

Before School – Starts at 6am
Students have the opportunity to get last-minute help with homework, socialize with friends, have breakfast, and enjoy some recreation time.

After School – Ends at 6pm
We teach children with engaging projects such as art, gym games, club involvement, community service projects, group and special activities, STEM, reading, socializing, and help with homework. Although participation in daily activities is not mandatory, we encourage students to explore different areas daily. A healthy snack is served daily.

Before and after-school care services are held at the following locations:

  • Harrisburg Endeavor
  • Harrisburg Freedom
  • Harrisburg Horizon
  • Harrisburg Liberty

EmBe’s No School Days are aligned with the school calendar to offer a fun-filled, supervised day for K-5th students. EmBe provides a balanced program with time to play and learn with friends, and finish homework when school is out for holidays, on teacher in-service days, and on other school breaks. EmBe delivers what your child wants: enticing learning opportunities, engaging involvement, and unique experiences.

EmBe childcare financial assistance provides for the needs of youth, families and individuals who cannot afford the full cost of EmBe childcare programs. EmBe is committed to being accessible to all, and works hard to support those who may be in challenging financial situations.

Our goal is to offer a safe, healthy and fun environment for your child(ren). Parents remember to keep their children home if they display signs of illness. We will be following illness exclusion procedures to ensure the safety of our children, families, and staff. We will continue the sanitation of common areas and toys to prevent the spread of illness. We will continue to educate children and staff on specific hand washing techniques.

Q: If my child or anyone in the child’s household exhibits the following symptoms of fever, cough, sore throat, trouble breathing, headache, or diarrhea, may we bring our child(ren) for care at EmBe?

A: No. We are only as safe as all of our parents and guardians allow us to be. We ask that you notify your primary care physician for direction and keep your child’s site manager updated.

Q: Are toys allowed from home?

A: No. To reduce the spread of germs, no toys are allowed from home. All EmBe toys, puzzles, books, and games are sanitized between use by children.

Testimonials

“We appreciate all you and your staff are doing at EmBe to make the summer fun for the children and keep all as safe as possible. These sure are challenging times. Having you open and run summer programs has been a lifesaver for kids and parents after being at home for a few months!”

– Joan N.

“I am a single mother and work at least two jobs to make ends meet. I could not afford care. I filled out a scholarship form, and shortly after submitting it, I received a call asking, ‘How can we help you?’ I am so very thankful and appreciative of the support. EmBe truly cares about the families that they serve.”

– School Age Care Family

“I am so grateful for EmBe, which provided daycare for my foster daughter so I could work and get errands done. EmBe keeps her active, not always on technology, and allows her to play with other children and make new friends. Knowing she is in good care while I work has given me peace of mind.”

– Julie P.

“Our kids love EmBe! We have one in the after-school program that stays busy every day, especially with outside play. Our toddler talks about his teacher nonstop! It makes you feel good that they love going to daycare.”

– Nicholas D.
