Develop leadership skills, build self-confidence and learn teamwork.

As a lifeguard, you will have the opportunity to work in exciting settings such as aquatic centers, summer camps, waterparks, college pools, and more! Many lifeguards move on to careers in aquatics, fitness, and healthcare. It is also a great way to get noticed by future employers and colleges who look for applicants with good communication skills, positive attitudes, and professional behavior.

The EmBe Red Cross Lifeguard Training Program is intended to train individuals in the skill and knowledge needed to be a certified lifeguard at aquatic facilities. Upon successfully completing the 28 hour course, students will receive certification in the following: Lifeguarding and First Aid (three years), CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (one year). Successful candidates have lucrative opportunities for employment upon completion of the class!

EmBe is bringing our Red Cross Lifeguard Training program to Miller, SD! This program is intended to train individuals in the skill and knowledge needed to be a certified lifeguard at aquatics facilities.

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age of 15 years old on the last day of class.
  • Must be able to complete approximately 27 hours in length.
  • Swim 300 yards continuously.
  • Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
  • Lifeguard candidates must attend every session at the times listed by the facility.

Current American Red Cross certified lifeguards can brush up on their skills, study for and take the recertification for lifeguarding in this formal class setting.

Designed for the workplace, the purpose of each course is to give individuals the opportunity to learn and practice content within a formal course setting. The course format optimizes a participant’s ability to successfully complete the knowledge and skills evaluations of CPR and AED. An instructor will give the written test, and upon passing, will provide the participant with signs of the victim’s conditions for which the participant should provide proper care. EmBe has a program that is intended to train individuals in the skill and knowledge needed to be certified in CPR and AED. The training is approximately a 4-hour course.

Lifeguard Instructor training is for current lifeguards who wish to elevate their aquatics career to be a certified Lifeguarding Instructor (LGI). Once they pass the course, LGI’s can teach courses in lifeguarding, first aid, CPR & AED for the Professional Rescuer, Guard Start, Bloodborne Pathogens Training, Administering Emergency Oxygen, and Lifeguard Management.
