At the heart of our mission is serving all of you and we place your health and safety at the top of our priorities. We are updating this information regularly on Mondays and Thursdays as new information and direction comes to light. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@embe.org.

Childcare and School Age Care

  • EmBe Childcare and School Age Care (Downtown, South and Preschool in Mitchell) will reopen on Monday, March 30, 2020 to our clients already enrolled. Hours are limited. Childcare and SAC families have been emailed directly. Call 605.681.8573 with questions.

Women’s Programs

  • Dress for Success client appointments: please call 605.610.0665  if you have a critical need and we will support you.
  • Dress for Success donation drop offs are suspended until further notice.
  • Dress for Success volunteer activity is suspended until further notice.
  • Women to the Workforce is delayed and scheduling will be updated in the week of April 6.
  • Women’s Leadership Program is postponed until the fall or early 2021.
  • Center for Nursing Workforce Leadership is postponed until the fall or early 2021.
  • Closet Sale originally planned for April 1-3 will be rescheduled.

Youth Development

  • Youth Volleyball: the final week of team practices and season end tournament (Apr 4) has been canceled.
  • Tae Kwon Do: Sessions will resume June 4.
  • FIRST LEGO League Camp on April 13 has been canceled with opportunities to move participants to a summer option.
  • Girls on the Run/Heart & Sole: Spring season programming has been canceled. The national program has developed at-home lessons that we are able to share.  More details on fall options and refunds will be sent to program participants starting March 30.
  • Let Me Run: Spring season programming has been canceled.  More details on fall options and refunds will be sent directly to program participants starting March 30.

Aquatics: 

  • Swimming Lessons: No classes will be held through May 1.
  • WSI: No classes will be held through May 1.
  • Lifeguard Training: No classes will be held through May 1.
  • EmBe pool is closed until further notice.

Events

  • Spinsters scheduled for March 28 is canceled.
    • With extended office closure likely, EmBe has updated its plan to make Spinsters refunds available to those who need them. The Spinsters Committee asks that if possible, you consider your ticket purchase a donation to the EmBe Fund to meet urgent community needs like childcare scholarships. Thank you for offering your community a hand up in these hard times.If you need a refund here’s the process:
      Send your Spinsters tickets to EmBe, 300 W 11th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57104. Include a self-addressed stamped envelope AND a note with your contact information so we know who to make the refund check payable to. A maximum of six tickets will be refunded at $20/ticket. Refunds must be postmarked by April 4, 2020. Refunds will be processed by April 17, 2020. Questions? Call 605.681.8346.
  • Tribute to Women will be rescheduled. Details will be shared as soon as information is available.
  • EmBe 5K will be rescheduled to celebrate all program participants at the end of the fall season. Details will be shared as soon as information is available.

EmBe’s Offices Are Closed
While EmBe’s childcare operation is reopening with limited services on March 30, following the lead of the City of Sioux Falls, EmBe is closing our public-facing offices, and will conduct business via remote office, phone and email. We are also committed to virtual meetings and minimizing contact. Balancing public health and the community’s need for childcare at this time is incredibly difficult. With information changing daily, we continue to turn to experts as well as work hard to do the next right thing for the families we serve and for our staff.
