Like good South Dakotans, we have been leaning into the wind, continuing our work and play through the drifts and flows of our snowy landscape. Although I enjoy the winter’s beauty, I also noticed some signs of spring in the activities of our staff and our wonderful volunteers. One of the best signs of spring? Lily received her award and presented EmBe representatives with their gift at before one of her games. Sioux Falls native and South Dakota Volleyball Gatorade State Player of the Year, Lily Bartling, awarded EmBe with a $1,000 grant to help accomplish our mission to empower women and families to enrich lives. EmBe received a grant from the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation's Youth Advisory Council of $3,600 to support scholarships for girls to participate in Girls on the Run at Hayward and Lowell Elementaries in our spring 2018 season and Terry Redlin Elementary in our fall 2018 season. The Council's Initiative is to promote philanthropy "for youth - by youth" and their purpose is to enable their students to make a difference in the lives of young people in the Sioux Falls area.
