EmBe is hosting Girls Maker Day Saturday, September 28, for a free, hands-on experience with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math.) “We know that children love exploring and figuring out how the world works,” said Stacy Stahl, Executive Director of Youth Programs at EmBe. “But we see the number of children – especially girls – who are interested in science start to drop as early as second grade. We are bringing together a wonderful collection of organizations to help counter that trend and help kids stay in love with science.” The fair features booths that use creative and innovation [...]

2019-09-16T17:21:43-05:00

EmBe gathered representatives of nearly a dozen workplace networks to share their insights about women supporting each other at work. These 40 women represented a range of careers, experiences and levels of leadership, ultimately answering a resounding “yes” when asked if additional meetings should be convened. Led by Erin Bosch, Executive Director of Women’s Programming at EmBe, the World Café-style conversation harvested perspectives about the benefits of women networking at work, how it works best, and how women can positively impact the region. Specific tips? 1.    Suggest board opportunities to other women – and share their names. 2.    Turn to other women [...]

Let Me Run, A Volunteer Story

2019-07-10T15:20:34-05:00

THE IMPACT OF VOLUNTEERING EmBe, which was the YWCA when I first came across the work of the organization, was a valuable tool in helping out my family. I am a mom of two teenage boys and at one point in my life, I was a mom of two elementary aged boys. We utilized a lot of programming offered at the facility, not just as parents of children, but also for our own personal uses (Tribute to Women, In Her Shoes, Women Leadership program) and it always has had a strong presence within the community. We were attending All City Elementary, [...]
