50th Annual Tribute to Women Nominees

As the longest-standing award ceremony honoring women in our region, Tribute to Women has shined a light on those doing right by EmBe’s mission since 1973. Their peers have recognized the following individuals and organizations as outstanding community members in nine different categories. We are excited to celebrate the difference they are making in the Sioux Empire.

Joy Feige, Eide Bailly, LLP

Joy Feige has been providing audit, tax and accounting services for over 30 years to a variety of industries including nonprofit, hospitality and healthcare sectors, with a primary focus on federal compliance audits in her current role as a partner at Eide Bailly, LLP. She is the past-chair of Eide Bailly’s Single Audit Technical Issues Committee, which assists the firm in staying compliant with federal grant auditing requirements. She has been key in providing training both internally to the firm and externally to clients. Joy has her MBA from USD and a BA in accounting from Northwestern College in Orange City, IA. She has served various roles as a member of the SD CPA Society, including past president in 2003-2004. Joy and her husband Larry live on an acreage near Sioux Falls and enjoy spending time on the lake, watching their grandkids athletic events, or other outdoor activities.

I’ve lived in Sioux Falls for over 26 years with a majority of my community involvement occurring in the last ten years. I’ve been a volunteer Chamber Ambassador for 9 years, and have chaired the committee as well as emcee’d the Chamber Annual Meeting last year. I have served on multiple boards in the Sioux Falls community, including the Alzheimer’s Association of SD, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and the South Dakota Urban Indian Health Association. Presently, I work with the SD CEO East Women’s Business Center Advisory Board and Dakotabilities Board.

I’m passionate about giving back to our community and I volunteer at quite a few events, ranging from Chamber Community Appeals to United Way. I love helping and connecting people, so I can truly say I have found my dream job.

I’ve worked in Sioux Falls radio for almost 29 years. I’m the Production Director/Continuity Manager for six radio stations at Results/Townsquare Media. I was a full-time on-air DJ for 26 years on Mix 97-3 radio. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2020, I stepped away from full-time radio and currently do part-time shifts on-air on KKRC and Hot 104.7.


Becky Davis, Soccer Sprouts

Soccer has been a part of Becky’s life since she was a child playing back in Chicago. At Valparaiso University, Becky played Division 1 soccer while getting her degree in Elementary Education. At USD, she coached collegiate players and graduated with her Masters in Sports Administration. Her background in both soccer and education, as well as her love of children, have played a major role in her life’s passion. As the owner and director of Soccer Sprouts, Becky’s hope has always been to spread her love of soccer throughout the Sioux Empire, so that children of all ages can experience this global, beautiful game. With the support of her husband and their 5 children, Soccer Sprouts is celebrating 10 years this Fall!! When she’s not working with her Sprouts, Becky is either playing soccer, reffing soccer, watching her boys (& husband) play soccer, or playing with their 4 dogs.


Lisa Leuning, Avera Health

Lisa Leuning grew up in Madison, SD where she attended Dakota State University for her undergraduate degrees. She later completed her MBA at the University of Sioux Falls. Lisa has had wonderful mentors in her career in both the agency world and at Avera where she is currently the Marketing Director of Product Growth and Strategy. Her love of marketing has only grown over her career because there are always new things to learn and new tactics to improve results. The best part of working at Avera for Lisa is the amazing team she works with who continue to create award winning campaigns while supporting each other like family. Lisa has three wonderful sons with her husband of 15 years, Wayne Leuning. Sara Lum, Startup Sioux Falls

Sara is the Vice President at Startup Sioux Falls. She earned a B.S. in Design from UNL, an MArch from Rice University, and an MBA from USD. Since 2020, she has played a critical part in leading Startup Sioux Falls through a major transition, orchestrating a rebrand, securing a $1 million grant, and overseeing the design and construction of the downtown relocation project.

Though I vaguely remember their names & faces, the value of their work has not left me, & has formulated who I strive to be. Between coordinating Artists Against Hunger, & Covers for a Cause to being a member of the Minnehaha County Abandoned Cemeteries Board & working alongside the Let’s Skate Team, I hope that the impact I make in Sioux Falls is fractionally as impactful as my family & the volunteers who raised me.

Brenda Kibbe is a long time Sioux Falls resident whose passion is to make a difference to the community and to those she meets. She had a successful career and Citi and then at Sanford Health. Through her many roles including Operations, Project and Change Management and Leadership Development, her priority was focused on serving her teams and their success.

Her volunteer activities include being a long time mentor in the LSS Everyday Hero Program and the EmBe Women’s Leadership program plus coaching and developing her teams She has served on the Board and as Board Chair for VOA and SEUW. She also shares her time with JA, the Banquet, Lunch is Served, Habitat and St Michaels Parish.

Brenda is married and has one daughter and one grandson. She enjoys reading, camping, traveling and spending time with family and friends.


Susan Kroger, Camini Consulting

Susan is a sociologist with a background in advocating for women, children, and mental health issues in South Dakota. She’s done everything in the nonprofit world from working with families as a play therapist, to planning a suicide prevention 5k, to building nonprofits from the ground-up. She co-founded LEAD South Dakota in 2017 and has helped hundreds of women find their voice in local and state politics. She founded Camini Consulting in 2023 in order to share her 20 years of experience working with nonprofits in the Sioux Empire. She’s a gardener, an amateur astronomer, and mom to Cecilia and William.


Maureen Ohm, MarketBeat

Envisioning a community where each child has hope and belief in themselves to be more than who they currently are or what they have experienced, she knows together we can help ensure the future shines brighter than the sun. She is the Executive Director of the largest CASA program in SD, but she knows she can not do what needs to be done without the strong women she works with every day and the incredible Board of Directors who supports their efforts. Tieszen is a 2003 graduate of the USD School of Law and a firm believer in the power of social workers to move mountains. She began her career in a homeless shelter in Omaha, NE then Boystown and returned to SF where she has worked in various roles with nonprofits and government for over 3 decades. The power to change the future is in each of us.


Susan Williams, The Transformation Project

Susan Williams (she/her) is the founder and Executive Director of The Transformation Project, a South Dakota non-profit she established in 2019. Dedicated to supporting transgender individuals and their families, Susan also educates SD about gender identity. In l987, Sheri moved to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Sanford where she found her passion serving infants and their families as a bedside registered nurse. Knowing that making a difference for women, children and their families was her calling she continued to focus her career in this area of service and in 2007, she took on the role of the Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Sanford. In 2016, Sheri was promoted to the Executive Director for Children’s Services role and a couple of years later she took on the additional responsibility of Women’s Services. Sheri holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing Administration from South Dakota State University and is certified as a breast feeding consultant. She also serves on numerous state and local advisory boards and other leadership positions. Sheri and her husband Randy have been married for over 41 years and they live in Sioux Falls. They have four daughters Heather Van Otterloo, Amber Johnson, Brittany Christian, and Brooke Konz, four son-in-laws and 16 beautiful grandchildren. In her off-time, Sheri enjoys spending time at the lake with her family and friends.

Following graduation, I became employed as a Radiologic Technologist at Sioux Valley Hospital. I earned a B.S. in Radiologic Technology and MBA degree from the University of Sioux Falls. I have enjoyed working with many exceptional students throughout my professional career. I enjoy spending time with family and friends.
