‘The love and support is neverending’: A Dress for Success Sioux Falls Story

When Amber Metzger came to Dress for Success Sioux Falls, her self-esteem was at an all-time low.

“I was used to having everything put together and being good at moving towards success, but life got the better of me and destroyed my spirit,” Metzger said.

Dress for Success Sioux Falls staff scheduled an employment suiting for Metzger and prepared her for a job interview. Metzger successfully landed the job.

After securing employment, Metzger joined the Tapestry, a networking program for employed women to build skills and gain support throughout a year of employment. Metzger developed close relationships with the women in the program.

“The ladies at Dress for Success Sioux Falls really are just my extended family now,” Metzger said. “The love and support is neverending.”

Metzger credits Dress for Success Sioux Falls with helping her develop greater confidence and a sense of self-worth.

“Today I am a strong, independent and lively woman that I am truly proud of,” Metzger said. “Dress for Success Sioux Falls helped me by getting me involved and acclimated into my new community, introduced me to connections and contacts, provided support, and guided me as I rebuilt my self-esteem.”

Metzger’s experiences have inspired her to give back to the community. She’s been an active participant and volunteer for Dress for Success Sioux Falls, as well as a speaker for EmBe’s In Her Shoes Empowerment Breakfast.

“I am pushing myself in directions I never thought possible for myself,” Metzger said.

As an active advocate and volunteer, Metzger has introduced others to Dress for Success Sioux Falls — including her two sisters.

Through resources and programs by Dress for Success Sioux Falls, Metzger’s sisters were able to find jobs and opportunities in Sioux Falls.

The Metzger sisters want all women to know that the services at EmBe Dress for Success Sioux Falls are available free of charge. 

“The program is amazing because of the ability to tailor services to each individual,” Metzger shared. “From entry level employment to doctoral degrees, age is never a factor.” 

“All are welcome and will feel inspired walking out the doors of EmBe Dress for Success Sioux Falls.”
