Learning to Lead Through EmBe’s Women’s Leadership Program
At EmBe, we believe that leadership is more than just what you can do for the people around you. To make a positive impact within your profession and workplace, you need to be able to make positive changes and impacts within your own life. Our Women’s Leadership Program takes an approach that works from the inside-out when improving and teaching leadership skills. Through our three-tiered approach, participants learn how to lead themselves and their lives first, then how to lead those around them, and finally how to lead within their community and organization. Kailey Miller, a Leading Me and Leading With graduate, has seen changes in her life and leadership abilities after completing the first two tiers of our Program.
Kailey Miller is the Director of Client Relations at Panther- Premier Printing Solutions in Sioux Falls. When asked about what made her decide to join the Women’s Leadership Program, she spoke about the challenges of being a working mom. She found herself trying to chase perfection in both her personal and professional life, which caused her to sacrifice her well-being.
“I was looking for guidance and support to find a better balance, and I believed this program could provide me with the tools and insights to not only improve my leadership skills but also to reclaim my sense of self amidst the demands of work and family.”
Since starting the program tiers, Miller has found several ways to create a better balance between work and life. She spoke about how one of the biggest strategies she has implemented is intentionally carving out time in her schedule for herself and prioritizing it now more than ever. Miller discussed how creating that time for herself has helped her maintain a healthier lifestyle and improve her effectiveness as a leader.
Aside from personal growth, Miller has also seen professional growth in her life. Miller explained how she has found more confidence in voicing her thoughts and opinions within the workplace. Additionally, she credits WLP for teaching her how to foster a collaborative environment with others by learning the importance of actively listening to others and valuing everyone’s contributions. She also talked about how this sort of environment and embracing everyone’s strengths has helped her to build stronger connections while also teaching her the importance of supporting her growth journey, as well as the growth journeys of others.
“This program has truly helped me grow in ways I never anticipated.”
In addition to gaining more confidence in using her voice within the workplace, Miller also found greater confidence in her abilities as a whole. EmBe’s WLP has participants take a test that reveals their top five strengths for the workplace. One of Miller’s strengths was being a developer.
“Being identified as a developer was a pivotal confirmation for me; it reassured me that I have a genuine talent for recognizing and nurturing the potential in others. This acknowledgment has empowered me to trust in my capacity to support those around me. As I became more aware of my strengths, I felt more confident in my role as a mentor, enjoying the process of helping others learn and achieve their goals. Witnessing their growth and progress has further fueled my belief in myself and my ability to make a meaningful impact in their journeys.”
We also asked Miller about how she felt being a part of the WLP group and moments when she felt truly supported and seen during the process. She spoke about the moment when she was presenting her creativity project to the group. She said she could feel encouragement and understanding radiating from her peers.

“The reactions from those in my cohort affirmed my journey and validated the challenges I had faced. It was a powerful reminder of the strength of our community and the connections we’ve built throughout this program. That moment reinforced my belief in the importance of sharing our stories and supporting one another in our growth.”
Miller’s experience emphasizes that while the WLP aims to help each participant grow as an individual, it is a group experience that builds a community with whom you get to grow with.
Kailey Miller just completed the second tier of Women’s Leadership Program, Leading With. Throughout her experience, she has expanded on the skills she learned in Leading Me and has taken her leadership skills to the next level by improving her communication and teamwork skills. When speaking about Leading With, Miller says:
“Learning from experienced leaders and interacting with my peers has given me new ideas and methods to apply to my team. I aim to create a culture of trust and innovation, encouraging each team member to use their unique strengths. This course has given me the tools and confidence to lead with empathy and vision, helping us to reach our goals and grow together as a strong team.”
In her final words of reflection on her time in the WLP, she describes the program as “transformative” and tells any woman who’s considering applying to the program to “Go for it! Women’s Leadership Program will not only equip you with the tools you need but also introduce you to a community that will uplift and inspire you.”
