Recognition Matters: Nominate a Woman, Man or Business for The EMBES
Every day, women in our community are leading, mentoring, building, and creating change. Much of their work happens quietly, behind the scenes. Yet their work speaks volumes. That’s why The EMBES: A Tribute to Women was founded; to celebrate and honor women whose impact deserves to be seen. It is the perfect time to lift up the women who have been empowering others in our community. But the first step to making that possible is a nomination!
For many past nominees, the experience of being recognized has been extremely meaningful. Maddie Peschong, nominated for Business Achievement in 2023, shared:
“You hope that the work you are doing is making a difference, but in the day-to-day, you don’t necessarily realize that people are noticing. So to be recognized for such an honor by an organization as well-known and reputable as EmBe is pretty humbling.”
Karla Santi, winner of the Sylvia Henkin award in 2016, echoed Maddie’s statement, saying that her nomination “felt like a celebration of the ripple effect mentorship can have,” reminding her how important it is to lift others up.
Brienne Maner, nominated for the Nonprofit Award in 2016, described her nomination as “a profound validation” of her dedication to community, saying that it has increased her confidence and deepened the pride she has for her ongoing work.
It isn’t just about personal encouragement, though. Becky Rasmussen saw her nomination in 2022 for the EmBeliever Award as a cause of professional impact. She said that her nomination validated the “hard, often unseen work” of her team at Call to Freedom and opened new opportunities to expand their mission.
Each of these stories tells the same truth: a nomination is more than just writing down a name. It’s a gesture that tells women their work matters, that their community sees them, and that their impact is worth celebrating. It builds confidence, empowers, and often inspires nominees to continue their invaluable work.
So if there’s a woman in your life whose leadership, service, or dedication has inspired you—don’t keep it to yourself. Nominate her for The EMBES here. Shine a light on the change she’s creating in the community. Curious to see our past winners? Go to see our list from 1974 to 2024 on our webpage here!
