EmBe precautions and COVID-19

Sioux Falls, SD (March 11, 2020) – EmBe is proud to serve the community and place your health and safety at the top of our priorities. With this in mind, we have been carefully following recommendations from state and federal officials to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and illnesses like the flu.

We continue to remind our staff of ways to avoid spreading disease, such as increased hand washing and cleaning practices. These practices are in addition to our everyday work processes.

We know we are all concerned. EmBe is committed to remaining calm, knowing that concern for health and safety guide all our operations. We are following the Centers for Disease Control and other health leaders for guidance, and we encourage you to follow common sense strategies for preventing the spread of communicable diseases.

What you can do:

  1. Stay home if you have symptoms like a fever or cough.
  2. Check with your doctor. You may be able to call or have a virtual visit instead of having to go into the office, too.
  3. Wash your hands with soap and water frequently for at least 20 seconds.
  4. Don’t touch your face.
  5. Consider “social distancing,” which means avoiding close contact with others. In particular, be aware of those who would be most impacted if they were to get sick.
  6. Visit https://doh.sd.gov/new/Coronavirus.aspx for the latest information for our state.

Regarding events and programs, EmBe will quickly respond with careful attention to the impact the virus could have for the community. Since this is a rapidly evolving situation, EmBe leaders are assessing conditions and developing response plans, recognizing that programs could be impacted with short notice. We are committed to keeping you updated at EmBe.org with any changes.

EmBe programs are: Teaching and practicing hand washing. • Discouraging sharing food. • Providing soap and water for hand washing. •  Using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available • Cleaning surfaces and tables using professional products daily. • Increasing frequency of cleaning.

EmBe follows the South Dakota Department of Health guidelines including when to stay at home and for how long when a child has specific symptoms. (Please see our exclusions policy).

We need your help. Since COVID-19 symptoms like fever, coughing and difficulty breathing are similar to viruses like influenza, it is important to talk to a clinical professional for diagnosis and treatment.

EmBe will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
