Fifty women and men have been nominated for EmBe’s 47th Tribute to Women awards. Tribute to Women is the longest-standing award honoring the achievements of women in the region. “Tribute uniquely celebrates the work people do to empower our community. Since its founding by Sylvia Henkin in the 1970s, more than 328 people have been honored by their peers. The EmBe Spinsters Dance is an annual event that develops leadership skills among young people in the community. Impact. Dedication. Heart for service. These words describe Kori Meredith, EmBe’s 2018 Distinguished Volunteer of the Year. Kori, a third grade teacher at Spearfish Creekside Elementary, has organized Girls on the Run at her school since 2016.  Girls on the Run provides 3rd-5th grade girls with opportunities to learn about being their most joyful, healthy and best selves. None of it would be possible without Kori’s work to bring the programming to her community and sustain its impact.
