Hands-on STEM learning in a fun camp setting!

Who doesn’t love LEGO?  Who doesn’t love Robots? FIRST LEGO League camps at EmBe teach 6 – 14 year-olds (ages vary by camp) STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills in a fun and hands-on camp setting. These camps are the perfect way for kids to start learning more about coding, program and robotics. From multiple day camps in the summer, to one-day camps on no-school days, camps build skills and confidence in kids!

EmBe Response to COVID-19 in terms of camps.

EmBe is determined to be proactive with regard to participants’ health and safety.  Here are a few of the steps we are taking.

  • We have reduced the number of participants in some of our camps to a maximum of 10 participants.
  • Each participant will have their own equipment to use… no sharing a computer, robot, or table.
  • Participants will be spread out as much as possible.
  • We will screen participants by taking their temperature when they arrive for camps.
  • Additional time will be spent on handwashing and sanitation of hands during camp
  • Camp equipment will be sanitized between sessions.

Scratch is a visual, block-based programming language for kids. Students program games, tell stories and practice critical thinking as well as problem-solving. LEGO SPIKE Prime and LEGO EV3 Classroom is based on Scratch, so getting experience in the base form of the language is a great way to expand the capabilities of those on FIRST LEGO League teams. For children ages 8-13.

In this camp, we will introduce students new to Scratch as well as build skills for those students who have used Scratch before.  Classes consist of 3, 1-hour blocks of instruction and creative assignments. Those assignments should be posted to the class workspace before the next class.

Camp Date Options:

May 18th – 20th, 9:00 – 10:00 am, virtual class sessions.  Office hours: 10:00-11:30am after class.

Cost:   $15.98- tax included (Scholarships Available)

This class is held online through teleconferencing and a shared workspace.  Participants work will be visible to others in the class as well as the instructor.
Students need access to a web-capable device. They need a device with a web camera and microphone in order to participate in the class.
