Camp ChangeMaker educates youth about serious issues in our community and what local nonprofits are doing to find solutions.  We will visit local organizations and non-profits to gain an understanding of the purpose of their organization; how it operates, who they serve and why they do so.  We will also help with a hands-on project so each camper will walk away with the knowledge on how they can share their time and talents within our community. Camp costs includes a t-shirt.  Participants bring their own lunch each day.

Here are some examples of the many great places we visited last summer:

  • The Banquet: We learned how they help people in our community beyond meals through their S.O.S program.
  • Reach Literacy: We always have a great time sorting books and hearing all about the services Reach offers our community.
  • Bishop Dudley House: We talked learned about homelessness in Sioux Falls and prepared and served a meal to the guests.
  • Feeding South Dakota: A great opportunity to work together as a team, learning about food insecurity and packing food boxes.
  • Friends of the Big Sioux River: We learned what we can do to help keep our water safe and what we can do locally to help with reduce ocean plastic.

When: July 26 – July 29 / 8:30am – 4:30pm
