POSITION TITLE: Executive Director of Childcare & School Age Care

SUMMARY:  The Executive Director of Childcare & School Age Care is responsible for providing senior leadership, and direction for EmBe childcare and school age care services. Primary responsibilities include operational and financial management of the childcare and school age care sites; delegation and oversight of childcare/SAC staff and community relationship management. A passion for the mission of the organization as well as child development and educational excellence is a key for success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure EmBe brand, mission, vision, and values are reflected in all interactions.
  • Provide strategic leadership in establishing a culture of empowerment and continuous improvement. Mentor the attitude of honesty and mutual respect. Create the organization-wide expectation of professionalism, accountability, and personal responsibility.
  • Set goals and provide business and strategic direction with the CEO.
  • Resolve issues and respond to operational opportunities in a timely manner.
  • Evaluate and develop processes and procedures to improve operations.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership that promotes a high-performance team to successfully achieve outcomes aligned with goals and strategies.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the CEO as required.
  • Manage and monitor all aspects of site operations, ensuring adherence to all State and Federal licensing requirements and reporting, as well as adherence to all State and Federal nutritional requirements.
  • Provide professional support and guidance to managers in CC and SAC, encouraging ownership and accountability in all tasks.
  • Provide management support of school age care sites and escalated communication.
  • Collaborate and keep open communication lines with school districts to successfully continue and expand EmBe within the districts we serve.
  • Ensure consistent application of all EmBe policies and procedures.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Complete monthly management reports and participate in annual budgeting activities.
  • Develop and practice procedures for fire and weather-related emergencies with Director of Curriculum and Licensing.
  • Ensure correction of any conditions that create an unsafe situation for staff or children.
  • Lead Childcare Directors and Managers to ensure best practices and consistency across locations.
  • Partner with EmBe leadership to identify and implement program growth opportunities.
  • Serve as an advocate for program services and promote enrollment.
  • Address parental concerns in a timely and professional manner, when escalated.
  • Maintain active involvement in EmBe activities as they relate to the bigger picture organization, i.e., fundraising events, staff development, programming opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 4 – 5 years demonstrated success in senior level leadership, program/service development and measurement, financial management and relationship building.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to inspire trust and communicate effectively with internal and external audiences.
  • Contribution to an atmosphere of team building and mutual respect.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft programs.
    • Must be a professional, self-motivated, and self-directed individual.
    • No staff member or volunteer will have a felony conviction on record within the past five years.

  • Frequent standing and walking
  • Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is primarily performed in an indoor office environment.
  • Noise level is medium to loud in childcare settings.
